Know every device on your network. Own the software that finds them.
Census is IT asset management software that discovers and inventories your computers, servers, network gear, printers, phones and cameras. It runs on your own server, your data never leaves your network, and you buy it once.
- Free up to 50 assets
- $1 per asset, one time
- No subscription
- No cloud required
- Free SSL certificates for your servers
- Auto-deployed & renewed
- Built-in help desk
- See all features

From "what's on the network?" to "what needs fixing?"
Census starts with discovery and goes all the way to vulnerabilities, patching, compliance, deployment and a help desk. Every feature is included in every license, even the free edition.
Discovery & deep inventory
Agentless scans over WinRM, SSH and SNMP, plus a small agent for laptops and remote sites. Hardware, software, users, security status, all in one asset.
Vulnerabilities & end of life
Missing Windows updates, vulnerable Linux packages and outdated apps, with actively exploited flaws first. Only issues with a fix are listed.
Patch management
Windows updates, winget applications and Linux packages: approve by classification or by hand, and install now or in maintenance windows.
Compliance scoring
About 470 hardening checks for Windows, Linux and macOS, based on DISA STIGs, Microsoft baselines and NIST mSCP. Push fixes with a deployment or paste the commands yourself.
Deployment & scripts
Push installers and scripts to one machine or hundreds, now or on a schedule, and see exit codes and output for each machine.
Help desk & knowledge base
Tickets linked to assets and users, a self-service portal with Windows sign-in, email to ticket, SLAs and a knowledge base.
Network map
Switches, routers and firewalls drawn from LLDP and CDP, the exact switch port every computer is plugged into, and a live check of what's answering.
Server hardware & uptime
Fans, power supplies, drives and temperatures from iLO and iDRAC, and an email within minutes when an important server stops answering.
Microsoft 365 & licenses
Unused, duplicate and wasted Microsoft 365 licenses with what they cost, software license counts, browser extensions and printer page costs.
A console your whole IT team can use
Fast, clean and readable in light or dark mode, on a desktop, tablet or phone. These screenshots are from a demo company of about 200 assets.

Build your own dashboard from panels and reports, with drag-and-drop layout, tabs per team, and counts that turn orange when something needs attention.

Every device in one list, with filters by type, group and Active Directory OU, and bulk actions to rescan, deploy, run scripts and print QR labels.

Vulnerabilities from Microsoft, Debian, Ubuntu, Red Hat and the NVD, with CISA's Known Exploited list flagged first. Every finding names the update that fixes it.

Each computer reports what Windows Update, winget or its Linux package manager says is missing. Approve once, and Census installs on your schedule.

A compliance score for every computer. Each check explains what it protects against, what was expected, what was found, and how to fix it.

A software catalog across all computers. Mark titles Authorized, Unauthorized or Tolerated, get alerted on unwanted installs, and uninstall remotely.

The network map draws itself from your switches over SNMP: LLDP/CDP links, VLANs, and how many devices are plugged into each switch.

A built-in help desk with SLAs, canned responses, dispatching rules and a user portal. One technician is included free.
Still paying for SSL certificates?
Census gets you free, browser-trusted certificates from Let's Encrypt and installs, binds and renews them on IIS, Exchange, Remote Desktop, SQL Server, nginx, Apache and 20+ other services. Certificate lifetimes dropped to 200 days in 2026 and fall to 47 days by 2029, so automation is no longer optional.
Stop renting your own inventory
Most inventory tools charge every year, per device, forever. A Census license is perpetual: $1 per asset, once. It includes a year of updates, and renewing updates afterward is optional at $50 a year. If you stop renewing, your version keeps working forever.
- Free edition: up to 50 assets with every feature and no time limit.
- Unlimited logins, remote sites and Census agents at no extra cost.
- Only active assets count. Archive a retired device and its slot is free again.

Your network data stays on your network
Census runs entirely on a Windows or Linux server you control. Nothing about your network is sent to us or to any cloud service, and license activation works fully offline.
- Stored credentials are encrypted with AES-256-GCM, with the key kept outside the database.
- Agents use HTTPS with certificate pinning and sign every request with their own key.
- Two-step sign-in, custom roles, Active Directory or Windows sign-in, and a full audit log.
- Remote-site traffic uses post-quantum hybrid encryption (X25519 + ML-KEM-768).

Install one program. Scan. Done.
Install the server
One program on Windows Server or 64-bit Linux, including ARM. The database is built in, and HTTPS is set up automatically.
Add your networks
Enter IP ranges or AD OUs. Within a minute every device appears with its type, manufacturer, open ports and web interface.
Go deep
Add WinRM, SSH or SNMP credentials, or deploy the agent from a USB stick or Group Policy, for full hardware, software and security details.
Works with Windows, Linux, macOS, BSD, switches, printers, firewalls, NAS, UPS, IP phones, cameras, VMware, Hyper-V, Proxmox, XCP-ng, AWS, Azure, Intune, SCCM and Google Workspace.
Try the public beta
Census 0.77 is in public beta: free up to 50 assets with every feature. Install it on a Windows or Linux server in a few minutes.
