0.84.0 — October 20, 2026 (current, public beta)#

Every hardware device of your computers, with hardware IDs and drivers. Update the Census agents and remote scanners to collect them.

New features

  • Devices: the Hardware tab lists every Device Manager device (Windows) or PCI and USB device (Linux) with its hardware IDs, status and driver; search by name or hardware ID. See Devices.
  • Reports Devices without a driver, Devices with problems and Disabled devices, and Devices in the report builder.
  • The SQL report page lists every table and column you can query, with a search box.

Improvements

  • The "new version available" bar shows on every page for administrators until you close it; it comes back at your next sign-in.
  • General settings uses the page width in two columns, with Updates at the top.
  • Alerts & scheduled reports shows the new rule form at the top, full width.

Security

  • Fixed a vulnerability in certificate checking: certificates issued through compromised intermediate certificate authorities are no longer trusted. We recommend updating.

Fixes

  • New report: the Report on and Show fields line up.
  • An asset map's floor plan that couldn't be saved is reported instead of shown as saved.

0.83.0 — October 18, 2026 (public beta)#

A storage overview and safer compliance fixes.

New features

  • Storage page (Configuration › Storage) and a storage summary on the dashboard for administrators: what fills the database, the data folder and free disk space, with links to the retention settings. See Storage.

Improvements

  • Compliance fixes that can stop something on the computers (older devices, Bluetooth, sharing, server software) show a red warning that must be confirmed before pushing. See Pushing a fix.
  • Fixes that can't be undone remotely are no longer pushed, or are refused where they would do harm; LSA protection and memory integrity are set without the firmware lock.
  • Smaller remote scanner downloads (about a third smaller).

0.82.0 — October 17, 2026 (public beta)#

A new Windows installer for the server.

New features

  • Setup wizard for the Windows server installer: license agreement, install folder, web console port and data folder. See Install on Windows.
  • Uninstalling can also delete all Census data (optional, off by default).
  • Silent install options PORT, DATADIR, INSTALLDIR and PURGEDATA.

Improvements

  • Updates keep the install folder, port and data folder.
  • Setup stops with a clear message when the chosen port is already in use.
  • Smaller installer; no command windows during setup.

Fixes

  • The server and agent showed no icon in Settings › Apps.
  • Linux and macOS: service commands typed without sudo failed with "permission denied".

0.81.0 — October 16, 2026 (public beta)#

Security fixes and easier work with long lists. Update agents after updating the server.

Security

  • A computer's Census agent can no longer be impersonated by another agent using the shared install key. See Each agent's own key.
  • Tighter checks on custom SQL reports, especially on PostgreSQL.
  • Resetting a login's password now signs it out everywhere.
  • Stricter Content-Security-Policy and safer download file names.

New features

  • Sort any list by clicking a column heading.
  • Rows per page (20, 50, 100 or 200) for long lists and reports.
  • Search in long dropdown lists and on the Reports page.
  • Network map: switch ports with connected devices, and a live up/down check.
  • Windows version from Active Directory / Entra ID for computers not yet inventoried.
  • AD group page with members and parent groups.

Fixes

  • The Software list stopped at 3,000 titles.
  • Signing out while a page was opening could show an error.

0.80.0 — October 14, 2026 (public beta)#

A big release. Update agents and remote scanners after updating the server.

  • Patch management: Windows updates, winget applications and Linux packages, with approvals, schedules and history. See Patch management.

  • UniFi and Cisco Meraki as device sources.

  • Update the server from the console. Debian and RPM packages, Docker image and an agent MSI.

Improvements

  • Asset Software tab split into sub-tabs.
  • Help desk button and knowledge base icon in the top bar.
  • HSTS for the console.

Fixes

  • The console now recovers when part of it fails to download.

0.77.8 — October 13, 2026#

Update agents and remote scanners after updating the server.

New features

  • Undo for compliance fixes pushed by Census.
  • Last users and 7-day logon history on a computer's Summary tab.
  • Vulnerability checks for 123 applications (was 75). See Vulnerabilities.
  • Floor and site maps on the asset page, and a Move assets on maps permission.
  • Print label from an asset's page.

  • Tidier asset page and Agents page.

  • A remote scanner offered its agent relay port as a web interface.
  • Undoing a fix for a one-way Linux kernel setting reported a failure.
