Dashboard

The dashboard is made of widgets that you choose, size and arrange. Each user has their own layout.

Customizing#

Click Customize (top right, or in the left panel):

  • Add widget: choose a panel, a Report list (also the + Report list button), or a single report as a table (including your custom SQL reports), and a width.

  • Move: drag a widget by any part of its frame and drop it wherever you want it:

    • into an empty space beside other widgets — it stays there (lined up with the width steps below);
    • onto another widget — left half = before it, right half = after it; the widgets in that row move aside, and any that no longer fit go to a new row below;
    • onto the edge between two rows (a teal bar appears) — it gets a row of its own there; above the first row (anywhere above the widgets) = at the top; below the last row = at the end.

    A teal outline shows where it will land before you let go. ◀ ▶ swap a widget with its neighbor (handy on tablets).

  • Auto-arrange: packs all widgets in order and fills empty spaces. It only happens when you click the button; otherwise widgets stay where you put them.

  • Width: pick ¼, ⅓, ½, ⅔, ¾ or full width in the list under the title. Widths are fixed to these steps so widgets always line up; the widgets beside it move over to make room, and any that no longer fit go to a new row below.

  • Height: drag the teal grip at the bottom edge of the widget up or down (10-pixel steps; the label shows the height), or pick small, medium, large or extra large in the list. Auto height fits the content; a fixed height scrolls when the content is longer. Giving widgets in the same row the same height keeps the dashboard tidy.

  • Rename: type your own title in the title box at the top of the widget. Leave it empty to use the default name (the panel or report name).

  • Rows: single-report widgets show 5, 10, 20 or 50 rows.

  • Remove: ✕.

Click Done to save, or Cancel to discard. Reset to default goes back to the standard layout.

Administrators can click Save as default for everyone. Users who haven't customized their own dashboard then see that layout; widgets a user isn't allowed to see are left out and the rest move up to fill the space.

On narrow screens widgets stack to full width in reading order.

Report lists#

Add one with + Report list (next to Customize, in the left panel, or in Add widget). A Report list shows several reports at once with the number of items in each (most reports list one computer or device per row). Click a report to open it. You can add as many report lists as you like, for example one for Windows hygiene and one for network devices.

Click ⚙ Reports on the widget (it also works without Customize) to:

  • add reports: search, then click a built-in or custom report;
  • remove a report (✕) or change the order (↑ ↓); up to 40 reports per list;
  • set the title, show the reports as a list or as tiles, and choose Highlight counts above zero (orange counts for reports that should normally be empty, such as Disks with less than 10% free).

Counts are refreshed every 30 seconds at most. Reports your role can't open are not shown.

The standard Needs attention panel is a report list with the key problem reports, so you can change its reports too.

Dashboard tabs#

Click + next to the dashboard tabs to add another dashboard, for example one for the network team and one for the help desk. Your own tabs are only seen by you. Administrators can share a tab with everyone (👥): everyone sees it, and only administrators change it. While customizing a tab, Rename tab and Delete tab are next to Done.

News#

The News widget shows the latest headlines of a feed. Administrators choose which feeds can be used under Configuration › General settings › Dashboard news (suggestions: CISA advisories, the Microsoft Security Update Guide, the SANS Internet Storm Center), so nobody can make the server fetch other addresses. The server reads a feed only while a dashboard shows it, at most every 30 minutes, and sends nothing about you.
